Alpha Page 2 of 2

The question arises, what is memory ? Does Alpha simply witness memory which is stored by the mind or is it an integral part ?

Alpha dwells in silence, a quality of silence that is not simply the absence of sound between two words or two musical notes but the same silence that one observes in the cool silence of the early morning, in a place of natural beauty and before man wakes to resume the incessant activities of the day. This silence, has the same qualities and attributes of deep Meditation, when the thinking mind has quite naturally and effortlessly, come to a gentle standstill and the inner Self is awake in its own value.

Alpha seems to bring this intrinsic quality of silence to the very process of creativity when I am painting a watercolour, working out a new guitar piece, writing a computer program, writing a management report or learning something new. There is always a freshness, a lightness, a sense of profound well being which accompanies this Silence and whenever Alpha makes its presence felt. Indeed, these are always Peak Experiences.

Alpha is always present when I witness something of tangible, external creativity and quality, for the very first time. Aged 16, I went to Preston Art Gallery and stood front of a watercolour called Mallard and Magnolia, by Charles Tunnicliffe, RA. For a few moments, I witnessed first hand, the principle of creative intelligence from someone else's work, to which, I responded dynamically. Alpha seemed intent for me to experience this. A signed print, no matter how carefully constructed, does not engender this Silence. The same Peak Experience accompanies being in the living presence of an accomplished musician, actor or, to a infinitely greater extent, an Enlightened Being.
